Dear students and families,
I would like to welcome you to Olson Middle School! I am looking forward to an exciting school year with you. I am committed to teaching health and wellness concepts by using interactive strategies and a variety of teaching methods. Part of health education at Olson Middle School is to provide opportunities for students to share their story and discover their brilliance. It is my goal to provide students with health education that will positively affect their mental, social, emotional, and physical health.
Another exciting change this year is that our health classes will be taught using the International Baccalaureate Design Framework. Students will engage in project based learning using the IB design cycle to help them solve real life problems that are related to health and wellness concepts. Below are the specific topics studied in each grade.
*Personal Safety *Bullying *Body Systems *Puberty, Body Image, Hygiene
*Problem solving, Decision Making, Refusal Skills, Goal Setting
