School Back in Session on April 6
Saturday, March 28, 2020 2:40 PM

March 27, 2020

Greetings Olson Students, Parents/Guardians/Caretakers,

We hope you are doing well in this challenging time. Our staff at Olson misses all of you deeply and we look forward to the day schools re-open so we can connect in person. Until then, per Governor Walz’s executive order, we will engage in distance learning beginning April 6. Our staff has worked hard the last 8 days to create and design Google classrooms that will engage students in meaningful learning.

We know distance learning will present some challenges. Our school district leaders continue to work on plans to make sure all students have access to the learning. Please visit the district website frequently during the spring break week for updates. Also, please see the “Important Letter to Families” that Mr. Gilmer wrote for additional guidance around students’ routines and scheduling during distance learning. Moving forward, each student’s advisory teacher is his/her “go to” person for information and guidance.

Three important things to know and do:

·  School resumes for all students on April 6, 2020

·  Students should log into google Classroom on or before April 6 and check in with their advisors

·  Parents or students should email, text or call Mr. Gilmer or Dr. Emerson if you have not completed the technology access survey

Governor Walz has designated May 4 as the date that we will return to school in person. We are hopeful that is what happens. However, we also know that could change. Please check the district and the school website daily for the most updated information. Do not hesitate to email, text or call Mr. Gilmer or me if you have questions. Enjoy your spring break and be ready to engage in distance learning on April 6.

Sincerely,

Dr. Steve Emerson, Principal                            Mr. Domonique Gilmer, Assistant Principal
