Information for 8th grade Families
Thursday, June 10, 2021 3:55 PM

On Friday, June 11, in-person learners should report to school at 9:30 as they normally do. Distance learners should log in from home as they normally do. At 10:00 am the virtual ceremony will start.

In-person 8th grade students and teachers will gather in the cafetorium to watch the ceremony together. Distance learners will watch from home as will all family members of both in-person and distance learners. The link to the ceremony will be posted on the Team 8 Advisory page that students have access to and will also be on the Olson website.

At 11:30 am all 8th graders, in-person and distance learners, and their families are invited to gather outside for a reception. All students, whether in-person or distance learners, will receive a meal with a dessert and beverage. Families will need to provide their own refreshments. At the reception, students will receive their certificates, enjoy their meals, and have a chance to say goodbye to friends and teachers.

Thank you all for helping us usher your students into high school. This has been a long, hard year, and we couldn’t have done what we did without the support of our amazing parents and guardians.

Tomorrow - Friday, June 11th
Thursday, June 10, 2021 3:50 PM
Olson families, you have probably already received this message from the district:
"While it will still be hot tomorrow, we are planning to reopen your school as planned. As always, you can make decisions about your own student’s health and wellness and decide to keep children home. If you do, please follow your school’s absence procedure and work with your school on item pickup."
We want to remind our families that we do NOT have air conditioning.

Distance Learning - Tuesday - Thursday!
Monday, June 7, 2021 4:00 PM

Due to the current lack of air conditioning in our building and the high temperatures this week, we will move to Distance Learning for ALL students from Tuesday, June 8th - Thursday, June 10th. At this point, we are planning to be open on Friday but will communicate if that changes.

Students will follow their normal, synchronous class schedule on Tuesday and Thursday. On Wednesday, students will follow their "WOW Wednesday" schedule, with classes until 12:05 and independent work time in the afternoon.

Here is an update on plans for our 8th grade promotion ceremony:

It will be held on the last day of school - Friday, June 11th. In-person students will view a pre-recorded slideshow at 10 am. Students in Distance Learning will be able to watch online at the same time, and families can watch it online as well - it will be posted to our website that day. At 11:30, ALL 8th grade students and their families are welcome to join us for a reception outside with food and socializing. Following the reception, students may leave early with their families.

We are excited to celebrate our brilliant 8th grade students! If you have any questions, please reach out to any member of the 8th grade team.
