I welcome you to an exciting year at Olson Middle School, also known as Olson U. We refer to ourselves as Olson U (University) because we focus our efforts on preparing students to become successful high school students and future college graduates. At Olson U, we are dedicated to providing a rich and rigorous education for our students. We accomplish this by having high expectations for all students to perform to their potential in a safe and challenging learning environment.
We have a great school, and we believe that together we can improve the quality of our school community. We want you to become actively involved in our school community through our Parent Teacher Organization, Site Council and Connecting Parents to Educational Opportunities (CPEO) program. In addition, we will have opportunities for you to volunteer and support school events. Please know that our Family and Community Outreach Coordinator will be contacting you to gain your involvement in our school community. Your involvement with your child’s education is vital to his/her academic success.
We have made some notable additions to our academic offerings. All students will receive one quarter of World Language (Spanish) this year. In addition, we are continuing our journey toward becoming an International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme. We have also added time to the school day so that students have an additional elective class.
Our teachers and staff members are excited about leading students to be successful academically, socially and emotionally. We are committed to providing a rigorous and relevant curriculum and building the positive relationships with students and families that will lead to outstanding results for our students.
I want to have a positive, open line of communication with all of you. Please do not hesitate to call me or stop in the office to talk with me. I look forward to our partnership!
